Der "Braune ungleichkörnige Sandstein" (bruglkss) der
Chappani-Formation hat zwei flächige Vorkommen im Kar-
tiergebiet, das eine im S, im Kontakt mit der Sisne-For-
mation bei km W 1.8 bis 3.4, das andere im N der Chap-
pani-Formation bei km H 7.0 bis 7.4. Das Gestein ist fla-
serig ausgebildet und trägt in seiner feinkörnigen Matrix
verschieden große und verschieden gerundete Komponen-
ten, die zum Teil durch Verwitterung pulverisiert sind
und herausfallen. (Dünnschliff auf Taf. 6).

Oben und unten. Dünnschliff des "Grauen Tonschiefers"
(whwesh) der Chappani-Formation bei Lokalität km H 3.500
(Probe 130b; Vergr. 400-fach; Bildlängskante entspricht
0.45 mm; oben mit parallelen, unten mit gekreuzten Pola-
risatoren). Es sind zwei Schieferungen zu erkennen.

The "Brown Inequigranular Sandstone" (bruglkss) of the
Chappani Formation appears in two larger squared appearences
in the mapping area, the first in the S, in contact with the
Sisne Formation at km W 1.8 to 3.4, the second in the N of
the Chappani Formation at km H 7.0 to 7.4. This rock type is
developed schlierenlike and bears in its fine grain ground
mass components of different size and different roundness,
which are partially powdered by weathering and which fall
out. A thin section is shown on plate 6.

Top and bottom. Thin section of the "Gray Shale"
(whwesh) of the Chappani Formation at lokality H 3.500
(Sample 130b; enlargement 400 times; horizontal side of the
picture corresponds to 0.45 mm; top picture with parallel,
bottom picture with crossed nicols). There are two cleavage-
systems to recognice.
