    Bildpaar 1: Wolken. Sie sehen einen Stereo-Diavortrag
 von Norbert Maier mit Aufnahmen von einer geologischen Kar-
 tierung im Himalaya im Rahmen einer Geologie-Diplom-
 arbeit. Die Reise begann mit dem Flug München-Delhi und
 dauerte 8 Monate. Das Kartiegebiet war zunächst 200 km N'
 von Delhi im Garhwal-Himalaya geplant. Es erwies sich aus
 politischen Gründen als nicht mehr möglich, in Indien zu
 arbeiten, vor allem nicht in Grenzgebieten zu China, wozu
 der Garhwal-Himalaya zählt. Bevor ich das endgültige Kar-
 tiergebiet bei Tansen in Zentral-Nepal sehen konnte,
 hatte ich eine 4-monatige Irrfahrt in verschiedene Gebiete
 des Himalayas und einen 3-maligen Arbeits-Beginn und -
 Wiederabbruch hinter mich zu bringen. Die Busfahrt von
 Delhi nach Kathmandu nahm 48 Stunden für 2000 km in
 Anspruch.




    Bildpaar 2: Tschai Shop. Während der insgesamt ca.
 8000 km Busfahrt und auch beim Fußmarsch im Gelände waren
 solche Tee-Geschäfte die üblichen Raststätten. Auf diesem
 Bildpaar ist eine typische Irritation durch eine bewegte
 Person am rechten Bildrand.







    Bildpaar 3: Hannumandokha. Kathmandu liegt 1200 m
 über dem Meer, in einem Hochtal des Himalayas, umrandet von
 z.T. schneebedeckten Bergen. Im Bild ist ein Blick nach NW.
 Kathmandu erinnerte mich in einigen Punkten an Erlangen. Es
 hat eine ähnliche Größe, alle wichtigen Plätze befinden
 sich in der Innenstadt und sind zu Fuß oder per Fahrrad er-
 reichbar. Es hat wie Erlangen ein rechtwinkliges Straße-
 netz, und es ist relativ eben. Die Universität ist im
 Begriff, aus der Innenstadt in ein Süd-Gelände ausgelagert
 zu werden. Aber das Geologische Institut befindet sich
 teilweise noch im Zentrum, und zwar - ähnlich dem Erlanger
 - in einem historischen Gebäude in einem kleinen Park.





    Bildpaar 4: Shiva und Parvati. Aus einem der Gebäude
 um das Hannumandokha schaut Shiva und Parvati, das höchste
 Götter-Paar der hinduistischen Religion aus dem Fenster.
 Das Wesen im Vordergrund bewacht den Eingang des Hauses.
 (Sie können entweder das Götterpaar oder das Wesen räumlich
 sehen, aber nicht beides zugleich, denn die Stereo-Basis
 ist übertrieben.)

    Picture-pair 1: Clouds. You will see a stereo-slide-show
 of Norbert Maier with exposures of a geological mapping in
 the Himalayas in connection with a geological diploma
 thesis. The journey started with the flight Munich - Delhi
 and it lasted 8 month. The mapping_area was planned
 originally in the Garhwal-Himalaya. But for political
 reasons it was not possible any more to work in India,
 especially not in the border regions to China, to which
 the Garhwal-Himalaya belongs. Before I could see the final
 mapping area, I had to finish a 4-month wandering through
 different areas of the Himalaya and three times starting
 and chanceling work at different places. The bus-trip from
 Delhi to Kathmandu lasted about 48 hours for 2000 km.





    Picture-pair 2: Chiya Shop. During the all together
 about 8000 km bus-trips and also during the walking tours
 in the fields such chiya shops were the common rest places.
 On this picture pair occures a typical irritation by a
 moving person at the right margin.






    Picture-pair 3: Hannumandokha. Kathmandu is situated
 about 1200 m above sea level in a valley in the Himalaya,
 framed by partly snow covered mountains. The picture shows
 a view to the NW. Kathmandu reminds me on Erlangen in some
 respects. They have similar size, all important places are
 situated in the center and reachable by foot or bycicle.
 They both have a rectangular street net and are relativ
 flat. The university of both is just now about to be taken
 out of the center of the town to a "south area". The
 geological departments still ramain (partly) in the center,
 and that in a historical building in a small park.




    Picture-pair 4: Shiva and Parvati. At one of the
 buildings around the Hannumandokha Shiva and Parvati, the
 highest good couple of the Hindu religion, are looking out
 of the window. The creature in the foreground is watching
 the entrance of the house. (You can see space_related
 either the god couple or the creature, but not both at
 the same time, because the stereo-basis is exaggerated.)
